A Whole-Body Approach to

Lasting Healing

Therapy in Florida

I'm Jennifer Goggin, LPC, LMHC, SEP, a licensed psychotherapist and certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. I help adults who've done the personal work but still feel stuck in their bodies find real, lasting healing.

In-person in Palm Beach Gardens and via telehealth throughout Florida and Connecticut.

The Approach

What Is Somatic Experiencing?

Most anxiety therapy focuses on the mind: changing thought patterns and building coping skills. That's valuable. But for a lot of people, the body holds the pattern. You can understand your anxiety perfectly and still feel it running your nervous system.

Somatic Experiencing (SE), developed by Dr. Peter Levine, works with the nervous system directly. When something overwhelming happens and your body can't fully process it, that stress gets stored as tension, hypervigilance, or shutdown. SE gently helps release what's been stuck so your body can find its way back to safety.

I've been a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) since 2007, trained and credentialed through Somatic Experiencing International. I also integrate CBT, relational and psychodynamic work, mindfulness, and parts-based approaches. I draw on whatever best serves you.

You don't have to relive the worst moments of your past. Instead, the work is oriented toward gently completing what the nervous system couldn't finish, so the body can finally release what it's been holding.

When "Doing All the Right Things" Still Doesn't Bring Relief

Many of my clients are high-functioning, growth-oriented people who look put-together on the outside. Inside, the story is different. If you've done a lot of personal work and something deeper still feels unresolved, you're ready for a different kind of therapy.

SOUND FAMILIAR?

TRAUMA AND PTSD

Hypervigilance, startle responses, emotional reactivity, and difficulty feeling safe in the body. Whether from childhood, relationships, or a single event.

BURNOUT RECOVERY

For professionals whose bodies have been running on stress hormones for so long that ordinary tasks feel insurmountable. The system needs to come back online.

HIGH-FUNCTIONING ANXIETY

Outward success and productivity masking inner exhaustion, self-doubt, and an inability to slow down. The overthinking that won't let up.

RECOVERY SUPPORT

For clients who've established sobriety and are ready to address the underlying nervous system dysregulation, traumatic roots, and embodied shame beneath substance use.

DEPRESSION AND SHUTDOWN

The heaviness that makes everything feel like effort, the fog that dulls your motivation, the quiet withdrawal from the life you used to enjoy.

POST-HURRICANE STRESS

The chronic, low-level anxiety of living in a high-risk weather zone, compounded by acute post-disaster stress. A real and underacknowledged experience for Florida residents.

HOW I WORK

I believe therapy should be simple.

Schedule a free, no-obligation consultation to see if we're a good fit. If we are, great! We'll schedule your first appointment and begin mapping out a path to your goals.

If not, no problem at all. I'll connect you with another talented therapist in my network who can help.

· Step 1: Free Consultation Call Share what you're looking for and ask any questions. This is a chance for us to feel each other out before committing to anything.

· Step 2: Your First Session We begin with where you are right now. I'll learn about your history, your goals, and what your nervous system needs to feel safe enough to start the work.

· Step 3: Ongoing Collaborative Work My approach is practical, compassionate, and paced to your nervous system. We work together to release what's been held, build resilience, and create the kind of change that lasts.

FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy in Florida

  • Somatic Experiencing is a body-based approach to healing trauma and stress, developed by Dr. Peter Levine. Rather than focusing only on thoughts and memories, SE works directly with your nervous system to help complete the stress responses that got interrupted during overwhelming experiences. I use SE to help clients release the tension, hypervigilance, and shutdown patterns their bodies have been holding. It's particularly effective for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and chronic stress that hasn't responded to talk therapy alone.

  • Talk therapy works primarily through language, insight, and cognitive reframing. Somatic Experiencing works through body sensation, breath, movement, and nervous system awareness. You don't need to narrate or relive traumatic events in detail. Instead, we track what's happening in your body in the present moment. Many of my clients come to SE after years of talk therapy that helped them understand their patterns but didn't change how their body feels.

  • SEP stands for Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. It's a post-graduate specialty certification awarded by Somatic Experiencing International after completing a multi-year, phased training program in body-based trauma therapy. I hold the SEP credential in addition to my LPC and LMHC licenses. The designation is relatively rare in Florida's mental health landscape.

  • Yes. I offer telehealth therapy to clients throughout the entire state of Florida. Sessions are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. All you need is a private space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera. In-person sessions are available at my Palm Beach Gardens office for clients who prefer face-to-face work.

  • I specialize in trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, nervous system dysregulation, and stress-related conditions. Somatic Experiencing is particularly well suited for clients whose symptoms show up physically: chronic tension, sleep disruption, hypervigilance, emotional numbness, or a persistent sense that the body is stuck in a stress response. I also work with adults navigating developmental trauma, burnout recovery, and the somatic roots of addiction.

  • It varies. Some clients notice meaningful shifts within a handful of sessions. Others work through longer-term patterns over several months. During our initial consultation, I can share a realistic sense of timeframe based on your specific situation and goals. Somatic work moves at the pace of your nervous system, not a fixed schedule.

  • Contact the practice directly for current information about insurance, fees, and payment options. A superbill (a detailed receipt with the necessary codes) can be provided upon request, which you may submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

  • The first step is a free consultation, a brief 15-minute call where you can share what you're looking for, ask any questions about my approach, and see if working together feels like a good fit. There's no obligation. If we're a good match, we'll schedule your first session. If not, I'll connect you with another therapist in my network who can help.
